Sizzling in Seattle

My Gosh. It is SO hot outside right now. We went from dreary, rainy spring days to like, host-your-cookout-on-my-forehead weather, overnight. It's a sudden burst of summer. Not that that's a bad thing, per se...I mean, yeah, heck yeah it's gorgeous out there! But c'mon now, weather gods. How about...you know...a nice 70-something day? I feel like a schmoe being indoors when it's sunny but I just can't hack the heat!

Sonny-boy and I went to watch my lovely friend Dianna perform at the Strawberry Festival today. She's a clogger! Her group was dancing at the festival so we went to see her in her element and enjoy a nice day outside.

Cut to me, 10 minutes after her dancing was done (which was awesome, btw!), huffing and puffing my way back to the car, with Sonny clinging to his water bottle, enjoying the ride in his stroller. Where's MY stroller? Holy cow! It was so hot, and the sun so intense, we both had tan lines. And we were only outside for an hour!

I really need to get better at this whole 'enjoying hot weather' thing. A few learnings from today:
1. Don't wear jeans when it's 300 degrees outside. Unless of course you enjoy the fine feeling of denim superglued to your thighs.
2. When attending a Strawberry Festival, do not expect to indulge in strawberry shortcake. Right before we were about to leave, I spied a huge Strawberry Shortcake banner across the park. I sweated my way over there, just to be turned away! Apparently they ran out of whipped cream? It was early in the day, too. Hmph, oh well. I'm sure my thighs didn't need the calories anyway (see #1).
3. Air conditioning in the car = heaven. I don't care how expensive gas is. I'm totally using it.
4. Shorter, sassier "I can wear it down" hair is so much better than longer, frizzier hair pulled into a freakish half-bun.
5. The new Starbucks mint mocha chip frappucino is carb-tastic!
You must try.

We ended up over at Dianna's for the evening - her family has air conditioning and an awesome backyard, complete with water toys. Hmm. I only have a deck here at home. I wonder if there are any good water options for smaller spaces? Must investigate.

Here's hoping for a slightly cooler day tomorrow...
